1 Fresno State: National Champion Fresno State (47-31 Overall, 21-11 in conference) was unranked at the outset of this NCAAs, and were the lowest seed ever to reach the College World Series.  The Bulldogs had started the season 8-12 before igniting and making history. Up from last poll
2 Georgia: Georgia (45-25 Overall, 20-9 in conference) was the runner up in the 2008 College World Series.  UGA had won four in a row in Omaha which included a win over Fresno State, but lost the next two to Fresno to finish second. Up from last poll
3 North Carolina: The Heels (54-14 Overall, 22-7 in conference) defeated LSU twice at the CWS, but could only go 1-2 against eventual champions Fresno State to get eliminated at the hands of the Bulldogs. Down from last poll
4 Stanford: Stanford (41-24 Overall, 14-10 in conference) defeated Florida State and Miami, but lost twice to Georgia to have their season ended with a third place finish at the College World Series. Up from last poll
5 Miami FL: The Hurricanes (53-11 Overall, 23-5 in conference) lost to Stanford, rebounded to beat Florida State, but then were eliminated by Georgia in the College World Series. Down from last poll
6 LSU: LSU (49-19 Overall, 18-11 in conference) captured the hearts of fans in Omaha, but not the CWS title as they lost twice to North Carolina.  The Tigers did earn one win over Rice to eliminate the Owls. Down from last poll
7 Florida State: Florida State (54-14 Overall, 24-6 in conference) had the go-ahead run on base in the top of the ninth, but fell just short as they lost to Miami and were eliminated from the CWS in two games.  The Seminoles also lost to Stanford in the opening round Down from last poll
8 Rice: Rice (47-15 Overall, 21-3 in conference) was Fresno State?s first victim in their run to the title.  The Owls then lost a lead, and consequently the game, to LSU to be ousted from Omaha in two games. Down from last poll
9 Arizona State: Arizona State (49-13, 16-8) fought Fresno State to the last out in the Tempe Super Regional, but couldn't get by the Bulldogs to have their season come to a close. No change from last poll
10 Cal State Fullerton: Fullerton (41-22) went 0-2 in a Super Regional for the first time and lost for only the second time in seven opportunities as they were bested by Stanford. No change from last poll
11 Arizona: Arizona's (42-19) loss to Miami in the Super Regional ended their season just one win shy of a 16th all-time berth in the College World Series. No change from last poll
12 Wichita State: Wichita State (48-17) got the upper hand as they won game one of the Super Regional over Flordia State, but lost the next two to the Seminoles to have their season ended short of their goal of going back to Omaha. No change from last poll
13 UC Irvine: UCI (42-18) has won 89 games over the past two seasons, but that total was a game short of reaching the College World Series for the second straight year. No change from last poll
14 Texas A&M: A&M (46-19) captured the school?s third Big 12 regular-season championship and its first back-to-back regional titles in school history before falling to Rice in the Houston Super Regional. No change from last poll
15 NC State: Despite a Super Regional series loss to Georgia, the Wolfpack (42-22) ends its season with at least 40 wins for the 13th time in school history and the third time in the last four years. No change from last poll
16 Costal Carolina: Two losses to North Carolina ended Coastal's (50-14) magical season which saw the Chant's play in their first-ever Super Regional in program history. No change from last poll
17 Oklahoma State: Oklahoma State (44-18 Overall, 18-9 in conference) had their title hopes dashed by Wichita State as the Shockers took a pair from the ?Pokes to end their season. No change from last poll
18 San Diego: San Diego (44-17 Overall, 16-5 in conference) eliminated LBSU, but were in turn sent home for the season by upstart Fresno State as they went 1-2 against the Bulldogs. No change from last poll
19 Michigan: The Wolverines (46-14 Overall, 26-5 in conference) played tough, but couldn?t get by Arizona and Kentucky to advance to the next round. No change from last poll
20 Kentucky: The Wildcats (44-19 Overall, 16-14 in conference) split with Michigan before being eliminated by Arizona in the Ann Arbor Regional. No change from last poll
21 Texas: Texas (39-22 Overall, 15-12 in conference) went 2-2 in the Houston Regional, eliminating Sam Houston, splitting with St. John?s and losing to Rice to have their season ended short of their CWS aspirations. No change from last poll
22 Missouri: The outlook was good for Mizzou (39-21 Overall, 16-11 in conference) at the start of the Coral Gables Regional as they shutout Ole Miss, but the Tigers lost their next game to Miami and then a rematch with the Rebels to get sent home for the summer. No change from last poll
23 Long Beach State: Long Beach State (38-21 Overall, 16-8 in conference) were dropped in their hosted regional with losses to Fresno State and San Diego.  It?s of little consolation they ended Cal?s CWS hopes along the way. No change from last poll
24 Vanderbilt: A 4-9 record to close the season keeps the Commodores  (41-22 Overall, 15-14 in conference) at home once again for the Super Regionals. No change from last poll
25 St. John's: The BIG EAST regular season champs St. John?s (42-16 Overall, 20-7 in conference) snuck by Texas, but then suffered back to back losses in games to Rice and a Longhorn rematch. No change from last poll
26 South Carolina: South Carolina (40-23 Overall, 15-15 in conference) defeated Charlotte and James Madison, but couldn?t get past North Carolina State in the Raleigh Regional. No change from last poll
27 Oral Roberts: Oral Roberts (48-14 Overall, 24-4 in conference) in the Lincoln Regional with wins over Eastern Illinois and the hosting Huskers, but lost both contests to UC Irvine to end their season. No change from last poll
28 Mississippi: Mississippi (39-26 Overall, 15-15 in conference) split with Missouri in Coral Gables, elminated Bethune-Cookman and lost to the Miami to have their season come to a close. No change from last poll
29 Nebraska: Homefield advantage didn?t help the Huskers (41-16 Overall, 17-9 in conference) get to the next round as they lost to UC Irvine and Oral Roberts to have their season stopped short. No change from last poll
30 Virginia: Despite being shipped across the country, Virginia (39-23 Overall, 15-15 in conference) played well in Fullerton, but not good enough to advance as they suffered losses to UCLA and Cal State Fullerton to have their season ended. No change from last poll
30 Houston: The Conference USA Tournament champion Cougars (42-24 Overall, 14-10 in conference) had their season come to a close after suffering two losses to a determined Texas A&M in College Station. No change from last poll
