Up and coming power San Diego
made it to the national post season once again, but
failed to advance to Omaha. USD eliminated Long Beach
State in Regional play, but was in turn sent home for
the season by Fresno State as the Toreros went 1-2 against
the destiny bound Bulldogs. An attempt to replace left-handed
ace Brian Matusz would be a mission in futility, but
the pair of sophomore Kyle Blair (8-4, 3.86) and junior
closer AJ Griffin (1.96, 14 SVs) will help ease the
pain. Offensively San Diego is sound with top hitting
Torero James Meador (.374, 6, 57) back in the outfield
as well as the speedy Kevin Muno (.326, 6, 49). A big
season from sophomore Victor Sanchez (.268, 12, 47)
who led the team in homeruns could go along way in taking
San Diego to the next level.
