OLE MISS rebels
(39-26, 15-15)
final 2008 ranking: 28

Ole Miss was a preseason top ten selection to start 2008, but the prognostication proved to be overzealous as the Rebels slowly tumbled out of the rankings entirely before making a final cameo reentry to close the season. The pitching staff was a strength for the Rebels last year and should once again be Mississippi’s ticket to the post season. Lance Lynn has gone pro, but enough experienced arms are still on campus to challenge opposition. Scott Biddle (7-1, 1.78, 130 K in 70.2) had such mind-boggling strikeout statistics that one couldn’t help but double and even triple check their validity. Also watch for redshirt sophomore Jake Morgan (5-0, 3.70) to compile some pretty impressive numbers himself as he develops. The departure of Cody Overbeck is a substantial hurdle for the offense, but with outfielders Logan Power (.329, 9, 51) and Jordan Henry (.292, 1, 24) still in Oxford, there is still plenty of punch in the Rebel roster.
