GEORGIA TECH
yellow jackets
(41-21, 16-14)
final 2008 ranking: NR |
Like
a survivalist preparing for the apocalypse, the Georgia
Tech roster is stocked and ready for 2009. Derek Dietrich
(.332, 14, 66) and Luke Murton (.332, 12, 51) are the
most productive hitters returning to lead a formidable
offensive Tech attack. After spending the summer playing
for Team USA, Dietrich will be looking to improve his
remarkable freshman campaign while senior Murton will
go out in style and finally join his older brother Matt
in the professional ranks after turning down draft offers
the last two years. On the hill, Deck McGuire (8-1,
3.46) and Zach Von Tersch (7-5, 4.33) don’t just
have sweet names worthy of a spy novel, but post some
pretty impressive pitching numbers as well to give the
Jackets a daunting one-two punch. The righty/lefty duo
of sophomores Kevin Jacob (0-0, 4.50) and Taylor Wood
(3-0, 4.08) impressed out of the bullpen in their first
season on campus and should have even bigger roles this
season.
