(54-14, 24-6)
final 2008 ranking: #7 |

Despite being led by player
of the year Buster Posey, Florida State was eliminated
from the CWS in two games to continue their long streak
of making it to Omaha, but falling short of winning
a title. The Seminoles have now gone home with lovely
parting gifts in nineteen Series appearances. With Posey
and two top pitching starters gone from campus, a twentieth
return won’t be easy, but it’s not out of
the question. Five seasoned batters who hit over .320
including Stuart Tapley (.383, 8, 40), and Jason Stidham
(.322, 11, 63) will steer the offense, while Mike McGee
(7-1, 4.04), Bo O’Dell (5-1, 3.60) and Geoff Parker
(6-2, 4.50) will limit the damage opposition makes when
they take to the mound. Tallahassee natives Tommy Oravetz
(.361, 4, 32) and Jimmy Marshall (6-2, 3.69) will also
make substantial contributions to help their hometown
team continue their winning ways. Also watch for sophomore
Tyler Holt (.324, 3, 41) who reached base in every game
during the regular season - a span of 55 straight games.
