New Head Coach John Pawlowski left a good thing in College
of Charleston for a great thing at Auburn. The former
Southeast Conference power has been finishing in the
conference’s second division for the past couple
of seasons, failing to make the SEC tournament the last
three years. In spite of this, a young team with a plethora
of talent will take to the diamond next year with lofty
goals and expectations set on playing well into the
spring. The team is chock full of sophomore stars, headed
by Team USA member Hunter Morris (.351, 11, 49) and
Brian Fletcher (.324, 10, 42) who was a National Team
trials invitee. Second year pitchers Grant Drayton (7-2,
3.89) and Cory Luckie (4-4, 4.38) started 14 games apiece
to position themselves with weekend roles going into
the new season. Junior second baseman Joseph Sanders
(.348, 6, 52) is a top pro prospect who can provide
the veteran leadership the team needs to keep their
eyes on the prize.
