ALABAMA
crimson tide
(35-28, 16-14)
final 2008 ranking: NR |

Like a drunk uncle with a mug full of eggnog, the ‘Bama
offense is loaded and ready to rock in 2009. The departure
of Alex Avila to the professional ranks is a significant,
but the rest of the Tide offense is back and ready to
continue to hit the diamond running. Leading hitters
Brandon May (.365, 9, 50) and Josh Rutledge (.369, 0,
31) will be back to make sure that there are plenty
of RBI opportunities for young slugger Ross Wilson (.295,
15, 47). The pitching staff isn’t necessarily
a strong point, but can impress with starters Austin
Hyatt (5-4, 4.53) and Miers Quigley (5-4, 5.58) back
on the mound looking to take the next step in their
development. A big season from Austin Graham (6-2, 5.25,
63 K in 61 IP) who led the team in wins and saves (4)
could go along way in determining the team’s postseason
success.
