The Ping! Power Index is similar to the RPI formula used by the NCAA. The basic RPI calculation is essentially computed by

1. Division I Winning Percentage - 25 percent of the RPI
2. Opponents’ Winning Percentage - 50 percent of the RPI
3. Opponents’ Opponents’ Winning Percentage - 25 percent of the RPI

We also have some other factors in our formula which are being tweaked and amended as the season progresses to find the best possible representation of team success. Other considerations include home field success, margin of victory and win streaks. Every team is not subjected to human scrutiny. For example, the decision to put team X over team Y was established by stats and numbers and deemed so by a computer, not a person.
