1 Mount Olive College: Mount Olive (58-6) earned its first national championship with a 6-2 victory over Ouachita Baptist.  The national championship is the first in school history for any Mount Olive athletics team. No change from last poll
2 Ouachita Baptist : Ouachita Baptist (51-16) recorded the most wins in school history as the NCAA Division II Championship runner ups. Up from last poll
3 Sonoma State : The Seawolves (52-15) made their first National Championship appearance.  A pair of one run losses to OBU ended the best season in Sonoma State baseball history. Up from last poll
4 Central Missouri: The Mules (47-17) season ended at the Division II Championship semi-finals after a loss to eventual champ Mount Olive.  CMU won Central Regional title on the way to Sauget. Up from last poll
5 Tampa: University of Tampa (42-11-1) saw its run at history and a three-peat come to an end after a heartbreaking, come from behind defeat at the hands of Ouachita Baptist. Down from last poll
6 Ashland : The Eagles (40-18) dropped out of the rankings the second half of the season, but finished strong, finishing second in the GLIAC and winning the NCAA Division II North Central Regional. Up from last poll
7 Shippensburg Pennsylvania: The Red Raiders (39-26) won the PSAC Western Division title and a North Atlantic region championship en route to their fourth Division II World Series appearance in school history. Up from last poll
8 Franklin Pierce University: Franklin Pierce (43-15) captured its third-straight NCAA II Northeast Regional Champioship enroute to the DII Championships, but went 0-2 in the tournament. Up from last poll
9 Delta State :  The Statesmen (48-11) were denied an opportunity to advance to the DII Championship after being upended by OBU in the South Central Region Tournament final. Down from last poll
10 Southern Arkansas : The Muleriders (46-12) reached the 40-win plateau for the third consecutive year and were ranked No. 1 mid season, but were eliminated by Delta State in the South Central Region semi-finals. Down from last poll
11 California State  - Chico: Chico State (42-17) played in their 10th regional final in the last 13 years, but couldn't withstand the inexorable force Sonoma State who won the West. Down from last poll
12 Nebraska at Omaha: Nebraska-Omaha (45-13) had an incredible second half of the season, losing only four times in 37 games.  Unfortunately for the Mavs, two of the losses were to CMU in the Central Regional to end their season. Down from last poll
13 South Carolina Aiken: USC Aiken's (47-17) forty-seven wins were the most in the program?s NCAA era, and the third highest win total in the Pacers' 36-year history of the program.  Up from last poll
14 Tusculum College: Tusculum (41-15) had their fourth straight 40-win campaign and were the South Atlantic Tournament Champions, but couldn't get out of the South Regional to advance to Sauget. Down from last poll
15 Columbus State : The Cougars (43-19) had their outstanding season ended at the hands of eventual champs Mount Olive in the South Atlantic Regional. Down from last poll
16 California - San Diego: UCSD (43-18) established a new school record for wins, but had their season come to a bitter end after a tough one run loss to Chico State in the West Regional semi-finals. Down from last poll
17 Emporia State : ESU (50-10) making a regional appearance for the fifth straight year and at one time were ranked number two in the nation when had a thirty-five game winning streak. Down from last poll
18 Abilene Christian : A incredible Southern Arkansas seven run rally eliminated the Wildcats (44-17) in the South Central Region to end their season in heartbreaking fashion. Down from last poll
19 West Chester Pennsylvania: West Chester (45-16) fell to Shippensburg in the North Atlantic Regional Championships by a single run.  The Golden Rams suffered both tournament losses to the upstart Raiders. Up from last poll
20 Catawba College: Catawba (43-18) lost a seesaw game to Tampa in the South Region Baseball Championship.  It was the second time in three years and third time in the past five seasons that the Indians have made the post-season tournament. Down from last poll
21 Wayne State  - Michigan: The Warriors' (34-19) season came to an end when they were shutout by conference rival Ashland in the championship game of the NCAA North Central Regional. Up from last poll
22 West Alabama: The Tigers (45-13) ended their season tying the school record for wins, but fell short in their goal of advancing to the Division II Baseball Championships. Down from last poll
23 Grand Valley State : The Lakers (34-13) were eliminated early in the North Central Regional, going 0-2 in the tournament.  GVSU is one of three teams in DII baseball to appear in every NCAA DII Regional since 2002. Down from last poll
24 West Virginia State : WVSU (36-14) won their 16th WVIAC baseball championship, but were stymied in the North Atlantic Regional, scoring only three runs in two straight losses. Down from last poll
25 Bryant : Bryant (43-21) set a school record for wins and finished second to Franklin Pierce in the Northeast Regional.  The Bulldogs will transition to DI level next year. Up from last poll
26 Belmont Abbey College: Belmont Abbey (41-22) fell to Columbus State in the South Atlantic Regionals to end their season.  The Crusaders established a new school record for wins in 2008. Up from last poll
27 Carson-Newman College: Carson-Newman (43-18) had a nice showing in the South Region Baseball Classic and went 2-2 in the South Regional to end their season disappointingly, but respectfully. Up from last poll
28 Saint Josephs College - Indiana: SJC (46-18) lost two leads to Ashland in the semi-finals of the North Central Regional to end the Pumas title aspirations. Up from last poll
29 Wayne State College - Nebraska: The Wayne State Wildcats (40-13) reached 40 or more wins for the third time in the last five seasons.  Their season ended in the  Central Regional for the fifth consecutive year. Down from last poll
30 Erskine College: The Flying Fleet (44-13) stumbled at the end, losing their last five games, but they did establish a new school record for wins and will be looking for more 2009. Down from last poll
