We gained ground on Cal this weekend, winning 3-of-4, and now hold first place (due to head-to-head tie break) heading into the final week of the regular season.

This week we travel to Mt. Aloysius Monday, host Seton Hill Tuesday and Gannon Friday, then travel to Gannon Saturday to complete the regular season schedule.  The PSAC tournament will be played at The Point Stadium in Johnstown on April 28 - May 1.

The weekend’s schedule is IUP vs Cal, Slippery Rock vs Mercyhurst, Clarion vs Lock Haven, and Gannon has the bye.

Yesterday the PSAC honored two of our players as Corey Betz was named PSAC Pitcher of the Week and Kyle Stryker was named PSAC Hitter of the Week.  Those two join Paul Bingham, Steve Mondschein, and TJ Nichols as other IUP players who have won the weekly honor this season.

Coming up this Thursday, IUP President Dr. Tony Atwater will be honoring pitcher Jake Rougeaux as the IUP Male Student-Athlete of the Year for his excellence both on and off the field.  Jake, a senior studying Geographical Information Systems, has a 3.98 GPA.

We are now 4-2 in the PSAC and have a four game series with Slippery Rock (7-5 PSAC) this weekend. 

Our PSAC results thus far, 2-0 vs. Lock Haven and 2-2 vs. Mercyhurst.  Cal is 8-2 and the team to chase !

Shortstop Paul Bingham was named PSAC Player of the Week this past week and also IUP honored two of our players, Mark Woleslagle (3.86 GPA) and Andrew Welch (3.65 GPA) as IUP Provost Scholars for 2009-2010.

We have returned to PA after going 2-6 on our spring trip and are now 4-8 overall.

The spring trip included a three game series at North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina.  Doubleheaders at Limestone College, SC, and Brevard, NC.  And a single nine inning game at Lenoir Rhyne in Hickory, NC.

PSAC action is scheduled to begin this weekend.  IUP vs Lock Haven is weather pending as the forecast for rain is 70-90 % each day this weekend.
