Individual Workouts Coming To An End

The start of the spring semester gives us a couple of weeks of individual workouts until the end of the month. We have made some minor adjustments on the pitching side and hitting side so far.  You can tell our guys are all ready to be on the field at the same time.  As coaches, you can go over bunt defenses/1st and 3rds individually, but it’s a different thing entirely when the whole team is out there and you are able to work as one.

Team practice will go quickly. We are only together a couple of weeks before we open the season on Feb. 19.  We will have a lot of intersquad scrimmages before then to see what these guys will do in game situations.  We have a good idea now, but there is always a sleeper when you come back after break.

On a different note, our kids maintained a 3.2 GPA during the fall semester. We’re thrilled for our team to be doing so well in the classroom, as that is something that we really stress to our guys.

TEAM PRACTICE IS COMING FAST!

Heading into our second year at UALR, the coaching staff is really expecting to take a huge step forward in 2010. We have brought in 27 newcomers this year, so the team is practically a brand new group.  That being said, we are excited team practice is coming soon.  School starts the 11th and then we will have individuals until we are able to have a full team practice.  This month is a time to make the minor adjustments needed to have a successful spring.  We have great weather here in Arkansas and can’t wait to be outside as a team.  The 2010 season is right around the corner and we are excited to see what this team will do.  We hope everyone had a great holiday!
