University of New Mexico's Brian Cavazos Galvez was a Lobo who went loco on Saturday, April 12th. The junior outfielder went six for seven at the plate, slugged four home runs over the Ricketts Park fence and knocked in 10 runs as the UNM baseball team beat Air Force, 26-9. Cavazos-Galvez set or tied UNM single-game records for home runs (4) and total bases (19), and tied single-game records in runs (6), hits (6), and RBI (10). All are also Mountain West Conference records expect for hits.

The previous New Mexico home run record of three in a game had held up for 13 years, last set by Mark Wulfert versus Air Force on May 13, 1995. The former Lobo slugger Wulfert was in attendance at the game.

North Dakota State University pitcher Chris Paterson combined with Chad Berg to throw a no-hitter Wednesday, April 9th at Creighton. The starter Berg struggled to find the plate and walked four of the first six batters and hit another to allow the Jays to score a pair of runs without recording a hit. Paterson entered the game in the second inning and held the Bluejays hitless for the remainder of the contest. Unfortunately the Bison were unable to take advantage of Paterson's stingy pitching and lost the game 2-0.

Because the game was part of a doubleheader and only scheduled for seven innings, Paterson remained on the hill for the second game and pitched another three and 1/3 innings and of shutout ball.
